Be careful of criminals posing as enumerators, says statistical service director.
Eastern Regional Director of Ghana statistical Service, Mr. Bright Worlanyo Neku has urged Ghanians especially those living in Eastern Region to be careful of criminals who will pose as enumerators in the upcoming national population and housing census.
He strongly believes that some criminals will pretend to be officers from the service in order to spy people houses to steal their possessions.
Mr. Bright Worlanyo Neku said that if any enumerator comes into your homes to collect households information from you ask them to show you their card identifying them as official enumerators from Ghana statistical service so as to avoid being robbed by some of these criminals posing as enumerators from the service.
He said that before you welcome any enumerator into your home, ask him or her to show you his or her card showing that he or she is an official enumerator from the Ghana statistical service .
He explained that criminals can impersonate the enumerators so if anybody comes into your home claiming he or she is an enumerator, ask him or her to show you his or her introductory letter or anything proving that he or she is truly an official enumerator.
Mr. Worlanyo added that there will be many changes in this year’s exercise .
He said the officers will wear their cards around their necks and they will also have introductory letters which they will have to show to people in every house that they will go into.
He further said that all the enumerators will be in either yellow or green reflective jackets so the masses should take note of that.
He stated that in this years exercise the enumerators will use tablets to gather information from the people but not pens and notebooks which were used in the last census.
Mr. Bright Worlanyo Neku , said that all the enumerators will be given sheets which will indicate the houses that they will go into one after the other to collect the information.
