She stated that Career Counselling is an expert career consultation process which provides advice on career goals and objectives, academic and professional requirements, career planning and evaluation, career development and career monitoring holistically.
“A successful career counselling uses multiple techniques to support prospects in their choices. Generally, career counseling analyses core competence and strategic capabilities, personal circumstances, available opportunities, perceived challenges, career options, career switch and pathways, professional development, continued personal improvements and so on. It encapsulates factors like individual interests, passion, principles, philosophy, values, role-modelling, personality traits and educational backgrounds”, she explained.
“A career counselor will help one discover oneself. The deepest desire? Specify one’s career and life goals. A career counselor appreciate and support one’s need to be needed and appreciated to help sort career options. A BSc degree in Registered General Nursing has incredible career pathways and is worth pursuing.” Dr. Ackim added.
On why the project is different from the many career counselling fairs available, Dr. Ackim narrated that, “to discover oneself is the greatest achievement a person can make. That is why we are giving the opportunity for the waec wassce graduates to explore their dream of doing without any strings attached. One can walk in during the period, enjoy the camaraderie of like minded individuals, engage with faculty, observe the practicals, partake in the lectures and evaluate all the facilities of St Karol. It will see a simulation of the four years’ degree in nursing programme. All WAEC WASSCE graduates are specifically invited for the three weeks’ free exercise.
