Introspective lyricism and raw emotion are just a few hallmarks of reggae’s next rising star, Sunshine Soldier. With the release of his new EP “My Journey”, this 30 -year old artist is making waves with his unique brand of melodic dancehall music.
Born Daniel Dzade, Sunshine Soldier hails from Ashaiman but his music speaks to struggles that many young people face growing up. Through confessional songs like “Mama”, “Hard Times”, and “Enjoyment”, his new EP dives deep into Sunshine Soldier’s personal experiences with family, relationships, adversity, and more.
Leading the production on “My Journey” are a team of top notch beat-makers like MOG, DopeNkoaa, JGAD, chronic sound and TL made it. Their speaker-knocking dancehall riddims provide the perfect energetic backdrop for Sunshine Soldier’s chameleonic vocal flow. He can toast with machine-gun speed one moment, then croon a catchy melody the next.
This dynamic range as a lyricist and vocalist has already captured the attention of reggae fans everywhere. The music video for his single “Fire” ft. Stonebowby is available on YouTube to be streamed. As Sunshine Soldier told us in an exclusive interview, this grassroots support from day-one fans keeps him motivated to share his story.

Moving forward, Sunshine Soldier plans to keep fanning the flames of his buzz with more new singles and visuals. If his trajectory so far has shown us anything, it’s that Sunshine Soldier’s raw talent and underdog mentality make him an artist to watch. Sunshine is with Solid Empire Music.
